Few agents seem to relish the task of writing a business plan for a new year. Even fewer seem satisfied with the results of a year when they didn't plan at all. Is it deeper than numbers on a spreadsheet or answers to questions on a printed page? 

I propose perspective is everything.

If I plan my business life, I'm planning my LIFE. I can add in time for long weekends, family events, vacations, or just an extra hour or two here or there to float in my pool with my phone on my desk! I can finally take that baking class I've been dying to take but can't find the extra time for! I can build regular relaxation into my life. I promise you, my husband is excited about that…lol 

I can CHOOSE A MORE PEACEFUL LIFE by my choice to write a plan for my business and for my life.

Maybe you're not like me --- but it's reaaaally easy for me to work ALL the time then secretly complain to myself that I work too much, tell myself I need a break but not actually BE THE ADULT and schedule my life on that level.

I don't know about you but I'm PLANNING FOR 2024. All of it. Every. Last. Bit.

Remember when 2020 hit and we weren't ready? Then it rolled into 2021 and 2022. We were earning a great living but most of us were not having a great life. Life can be unpredictable; I will never make pretend that every moment can be planned --- but that is not going to be my excuse for not planning the things that are in my control.

2024 can be incredible. I am fully aware that as I partner with God (trusting like it's on all Him; working like it's all on me), I can affect [my part of] the world in a life-changing way. And I mean to do just that. Sometimes we live like we always get another shot. I'm here to tell you sometimes we do…and sometimes we don't. Live like you count. Live like your life matters. It does. To someone, you are the world. To your clients, you are their expert real estate adviser and, hopefully, their friend. We are not in this for endless transactions; that is EXHAUSTING. We are building relationships for a lifetime. We love this business because we get to make a real difference in the lives of real people.

I love giving people hope but I'm also a realist. I want you to have a REASON to hope.

Write SOMETHING.

Do you need to start with your calendar and plan your time off? DO IT.

Would it help if you could block out every Sunday till 2pm for the entire year or even all day? GO FOR IT.

Do you need to open a new account and earmark it for something incredible? It can even be a line item in your budget – a sinking fund for something you've dreamed of for years. MAKE IT HAPPEN. 

Write it down.

Do you have an artist's heart? Create a dream board. If that's hokey, sign me up. I'm all about visual goals, passions and energy. I talk fast (and a lot, I'm aware…lol), I think fast, I move fast.
