First, I want to thank Terryl Reeves for his kind words in last week's Broker Bit edition (linked here in case you missed it). It is an honor to work with all the Bellator Brokers. We all have different styles and backgrounds which makes it even cooler that we all get along so well. We are fortunate to have over 215 years of combined Broker experience working together for you.
Work ethic . . . Do you have one? Is yours working for you? Your work ethic is always important, but as our market changes and how our daily business practices will have to adjust, your work ethic is going to be more important than ever before.
Work ethic is "a set of values guiding professional behavior, encompassing integrity, quality, discipline and teamwork." Your work ethic is crucial for success as it drives productivity and enhances your reputation, ultimately contributing to your individual achievements.
There is no question that our profession is dealing with change. Your work ethic will determine how you adapt to these changes. Your work ethic sets the way for a proper and successful path to achieving the smallest and largest goals regardless of the change to environment.
Do you think buyers and sellers appreciate a great work ethic in today's world? I PROMISE you they do!
Here are 5 key factors to a successful work ethic for your client below, or better yet, how about these "5 Value Propositions" you can offer your client:
- Integrity – Just being honest, ethical and reliable to your client. It's all about just doing the right thing. Keep your promises and be reliable.
- Responsibility – This involves taking ownership of your actions and decisions and being accountable for the outcomes.
- Quality – This involves striving for excellence and taking pride and ownership in your efforts and work with your client.
- Discipline -This involves showing commitment, perseverance and self-control to your client.
- Teamwork -This involves working effectively with others in the transaction to achieve your client's goal.
A REALTOR® with a strong work ethic has certain qualities (or should I say again "Value Propositions") that will always set them apart:
- Reliability – You need to be dependable! We need to meet deadlines, fulfill commitments and be counted on to complete transactions efficiently and effectively. Your reliability will instill trust and confidence with your client.
- Dedication – If you have a strong work ethic, you are committed to the goal! You will go above and beyond to achieve a successful closing. You will want high-quality results.
- Initiative – You need to be proactive and take ownership in your role as your clients' "Trusted Advisor". You are always looking for opportunities to contribute and make a difference.
- Professionalism – We always hear this word and wish there was more of it in our business, but what does this word really mean? It means you conduct yourself in a manner that reflects your well-being as a REALTOR®. You maintain a positive mindset, communicate effectively and treat others with respect to have successful transactions.
- Adaptability – This means you are adaptable and flexible in our approach to each transaction. I hope you are adaptable in the next few months! Your willingness to adapt will ensure you can continue to perform at a high level regardless of the changes we face ahead.
- Accountability – If you have a strong work ethic you take responsibility for your actions and outcomes. There are no excuses or a shift to blame others. You own your mistakes, learn from them and use these mistakes to make improvement in your business. Understanding accountability is essential to personal and professional growth.
- Time Management – Something we can all improve on . . . prioritize tasks, set realistic goals and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality to your client.
So, how does a strong work ethic benefit you?
- Increases productivity and makes you more dedicated and committed to your business.
- It reduces your business cost (Time / Value / Money).
- Improves your mindset! You become more satisfied and motivated with your business.
- It improves your reputation and will ultimately attract better clients.
The right work ethic will make any change less painful, and you will be way ahead of your competition!
