I continue to hear "fear" or "anxiety" from REALTORS® about the upcoming changes in our industry as it relates to the NAR lawsuit and changes in our profession.

As I have mentioned before, this is not the first change in our profession that has created fear or anxiety, and it will not be the last. I am not one to offer unsolicited advice, but I will share my mindset with you about change and I hope it will help you as we approach August 17, 2024.

Confidence in any situation is key, especially related to change.

Accept your fear and anxiety. If this is what you're feeling, just embrace it and know these feelings are valid and are part of the process. Embracing change is learning how you feel about the change. It's OK . . . just go ahead and embrace it. You have fear and anxiety . . . now you're done.

Gather knowledge. The best way to manage any kind of change is to understand as much as you can about the change. This is exactly why Bellator leadership started months ago to help us learn and understand the changes ahead. Since leadership introduced us to the change, we have been meeting regularly to understand and even role play to get comfortable with future situations and conversations. Knowledge is power and when it comes to change, knowledge helps reduce uncertainty and promotes confidence! Confidence is always your best friend with any change, especially in future conversation with your buyers.

Stop Venting. I am sure you have heard someone say "I'm not complaining, I'm just venting."  Really, though? It sounds like complaining to me. Anyway - just stop! Venting usually doesn't help. In fact, it can make you feel worse about the change.

Where are your eyes? Have you ever wondered why they are in front of your head? They are in front of your head so you can look forward! Change is about what is ahead of us. Change makes us compare the past to the now, but time doesn't flow backward and neither does change. Looking back never helps you move forward.

Focus on the small wins. There is no doubt change can be overwhelming. Just relax, take one situation and conversation at a time and focus on the small achievements. Learn from those achievements to gain more confidence.

Accept the challenges. Yes, there will be some challenges. Yes, there will be some disappointments, but we experience those in our business today not related to change. Accept and learn from each challenge and keep looking forward with confidence with the knowledge you just learned from the challenge you faced.

Accept the setback. Yes, there could be an isolated setback as there always is with change and the learning curve. As disappointing as any setback is (even today without change), accept the fact that we may encounter setbacks; learn from them and use this knowledge to build on your confidence for the next opportunity!

Support provides confidence. Be confident that you have your office Broker's support and Bellator leadership's support to work through any situational change in this business. We are all in this together and will get through it together, so
B confident!

Confidence is key to change!
